Today, most vineyards in Italy hire winemaking consultants who lend their expertise to many wine labels. To create an exclusive Tuscan wine Festeggiata sought a talented winemaker excited about creating a single great Italian wine. We found that person in Alyson Morgan. Aly came to us with a degree in Viticulture & Enology from the University of California at Davis, years of experience with large wine producers in Italy and California and a track record of making award winning wines.
The art and science of winemaking is complex and involves exploiting all the delicate color and taste variations that naturally occur in the grape. Hot summers produce different fruit than mild ones; grapes grown in limey soil taste different than ones cultivated in shale; clusters of grapes receiving morning light have different fruit flavor than bunches that bask in the afternoon sun. In Tuscany a winemaker must respect the unpredictable climate and nurture the fruit all the way through the growing season. We apply a personalized fermentation and aging program to retain the individuality of every vintage.
