Sangiovese Vineyard
After harvest the vineyards are regularly plowed to keep winter weeds under control. Wildflowers and grasses make a beautiful ground cover and help to preserve topsoil. The Villa Vineyard, planted in 1932, is carefully pruned to balance the vines with cordons and the correct amount of spurs in relation to the size and health of the vine. New Sangiovese vines are being trained and tied with the cordons facing downhill to control vigor.
